Maryland Assault Lawyer
Representing those accused of violating probation conditions
One of the more common charges handled within our office are among the variety of assault charges and charges that are often associated with assault. Our offices focuses greatly on a thorough and intense investigation into all of the cases that we handle, but assault cases often require the most pre-trial investigation.
If you’re reading this now, you’ve likely experienced a recent situation that involved interaction with the police. When the police arrived, they often times only speak to one of the parties involved in the situation. In many instances our clients tell us: “the officer said that he/she was called out here, so they had to charge someone.”
Among all of the cases our office handles, assault charges are the most reliant upon witness and victim testimony. Many times the facts presented by the police or these witnesses do not reflect the entire story. That’s where our office and our methods of pre-trial investigation step in.
Charging documents, or statements of probable cause, are often an incomplete picture, but represent part of the entire story. Our role, in representing our clients, is to view many of the perspectives that lead up the the charges, and aftermath of those charges, so that we may best provide the State with the complete picture of the situation bringing rise to these charges.
In many instances, getting the full picture will cause charges to be dropped entirely. In other instances, a trial will be required, allowing for a judge or jury to digest all of the perspectives involved in a situation. While trials are always risky, our lawyers are comfortable with their ability to “paint a picture” of the situation that is likely to return an acquittal.
In addition to assault in the first degree or assault in the second degree, our clients charged with these assault charges often receive related charges of harassment, telephone misuse, malicious destruction of property, or a variety of other related charges.
If you or a family member are facing one or some of these charges, it is important to call an experienced defense attorney and begin the investigation into the full picture surrounding the situation. Our lawyers are happy to schedule a free consultation with you, just call (410) 885-6200 to set up a convenient time to discuss these charges.
